Topic: Let's Do This! My story of Weight Loss and Management
Maki will be sharing lessons learned from her personal experience of gaining 60 pounds in her late teens into her 20s, losing the weight and keeping it off!
Maki Natori is a dance artist, choreographer and instructor by night and an international student recruiter by day. Maki started her dance career with ballet at the age of four. She went on to become a competitive Rhythmic Gymnast at the national and international level.
After retiring from the sport, she wandered into her first Raks Sharki (bellydance) class in Vancouver and immediately fell in love with the style. Maki has been a featured performer/instructor for conferences and shows in locations such as Bali, Tokyo, Hanoi, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.
When not in the studio or on stage, Maki spends her time working in international education. She has been in the industry for over 15 years and is working in international student recruitment for the University of British Columbia (UBC) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UBC. Maki currently sits on the leadership committee for the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers’s Region 1 chapter.
